Is wearing these modern head-cap during performing salaat (prayer) permissible?

I saw on Tv a young man wearing a modern head-cap, during salaat session. My question is, what he did was right in islam? I have never seen that before, what i know is, men can perform prayers with the muslim tradional head-caps.

It is not allowed we should use the traditional cap during salat
