can you explain what the Ahlusunna say about intentions?

Is it compulsory to say the intention when you want to perform any prayer's. Intention as in NAWAETUM FARDU SOLATA... But some shaikh(Ahlu sunna) say that no need to say that because it is not a sunna that already you ve make up your mind to pray & that Allah(swa) as already see your mind. And that it is just an innovation not a sunna of the prophet(saw). And they support it by saying: "for every action their is intention".
