Peace be upon him or salAllah ho alaihe wasalam is darood (asking for Allah's blessing on RasoolAllah and paying him salutations)in a short form, the complete being that which is recited in our salat. Surah Al-Ahzab, ayah 56 states:
' Lo! Allah and his angels shower blessings on the prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on
him and salute him with a worthy salutations.'

Masnad Ahmad states that on recital of darood by a person once ten sins are forgiven, ten blessings are showered and his ranking is raised by ten. Ibn-e-Majah states that RasoolAllah(SAW) said that the angels keep praying for that person as long as he keeps reciting darood.

Tirmizi states a hadith that RasoolAllah(SAW) said:' It is annihilation of the one who does not recite darood on hearing my name; his too, who lives through the month of Ramadan and it passes away without his sins having been forgiven; and his too, who finds his parents in their old age and they could not make him admissible to the Paradise.'[or as he(SAW) said].
