I was actually listening to a talk Dr Zakir Naik was doing on PeaceTv a week ago discussing this. This is what he basically said, it does 'break' the fast, HOWEVER you must still finish that days fast AND make up for that fast after ramadan. If i can find a way to upload audio to the site I will upload the recording I made of the talk that Dr Zakir Naik gave explaining it in more detail :) |

Masturbation is always haraam so never permissible and indeed it broke your fast. You should definitely not do it in the month of Ramadan as the sins count twice as heavy but the good deeds aswell. However, as you were unaware I assume it's obligatory for you now to redo the day(s) you broke your fast. You should take your chances lowering your gaze this Ramadan as the Prophet (sallallaho aliehe wa'aliehe wasallam ) recommended to fast to avoid masturbation.
