Salaam wa aylukum, I have a question about what to do with the finger in tashahud. I want to complete salat according to the sunnah way and the only thing I'm still uncertain about is how to move/place the finger during this part of the prayer. Inshallah, can you help me or guide me to a reputable source? I am asking you because at our mosque there is no designated Iman or shaykh. Jazak Allhu Khairun |

Salam when you say Ashadu An La Ilaha IlAllah,then raise up your finger, when you say Wa Ashadu An NaMuhammed Abduhu Wa Rasuluh, put your finger down |

You should raise it just as you are saying 'Ashadu an-la ilaha illAllah' because it's when you are testifying that "there is no God but Allah" . You can research further in the Hadeeth (particularly Sahih Al-Bukhari or Sahih Al-Muslim - they're the authentic ones.) |
